A "Schlep" Of A Bag

I want to sew, I want to sew, I want to sew!  God, give me the patience.
We now have 2, count 'em, 2 sewing classes under our belt!  Shannon and I dove into another wonderful class on Friday night.  So, now we have a beautiful pillow and this amazing bag thanks to I Love Sewing

Now, if I can just remember how to make it again.....practice, practice, practice!
I would love to be able to make these for all our friends as baby gifts....
they make great diaper bags(Thanks Aunt Janet)!

Granny Granny Everywhere

Our end tables have been looking a little rough now for about, oh, I'd say, 5 years!!  It was either, bite the bullet and buy new ones or try and "redo/update" them.  We thought about painting them, but Seth always gave me this look of "Really? You really want me to do that?"  Which means, in guy terms, "Ugh, I am dreading this already, I will clean the toilets before you make me paint these damn end tables".  After finding a cute picture of a step stool that had a crocheted granny top on it, I thought, why not make 2 granny tops for our end tables!  I love how they turned out!  Cole said "Mommy, these are beautiful and so cozy", Seth said "Thank the Lord I don't have to paint them"!

I'm tossing around the idea of finding "vintage" or "seen better days" end tables, etc and making these granny tops and selling them.  What do you think?

The Last Minute Christmas Stocking

I have been thinking of doing handmade Christmas stockings for the family for awhile now, somehow the Christmas season snuck right up on me and here I am on December 23rd thinking "wow, that was fast" and only one stocking.  A couple days ago I sat searching the web and came across a tractor stocking.  (I wish I could link the pattern here for you, but the link is not working.)
I, somewhat, followed the pattern, added some tweaks and
my own personal touch and poof, here is what I ended up with.
Now only 3 more to go.  Maybe a princess one for Z, a hunting theme for daddy and undecided on my grand stocking
One Christmas stocking and one very happy little boy.

Wonder what the "Claus" will fill it with?

Warm Blankies for Christmas

The Christmas Season is here!  My favorite time of the year!  As the cold weather is settling in on us, and as we are patiently awaiting the first snow, the kids were in need of some warm and fuzzy blankies to cuddle with.
For Z's I used a yard of warm fleece, crocheted around the edges and added a felt Z.   How fun is the light bulb fabric?!

For Sputz and his love of tractors, he picked out a winter John Deere tractor flannel and a green plaid for the back.  I am just in love with the warmth of the flannel....the best in the winter!  We laid it out together and I pieced the pieces together for him.

Now, where is that snow?

Going Hat Crazy

Ok, I admit, I have an addiction, to making hats!  They are so fun and gratifying.  I can have a finished project in a night or two.  And, saying that with 2 kids is a miracle in it self.  I crocheted the hat, and then with the help of a great etsy store, joyfuljanssens, I purchased a great turkey.  I ironed on the turkey,
did a quick couple embroidery stitches around the turkey to give it a warm feeling and viola.  Here is my latest.

Go Big Red

Living in Nebraska, you have no other choice........GO BIG RED!
Football is a way of life, and if you don't have red on, on Saturdays,
well then you are the outcast.
Miss Z needed an appropriate hat to wear on Husker Saturdays with
her cute Husker outfit.  Here is the finished project!
Doesn't she just make the hat?!? My 'lil Husker Diva!

Giraffes and Babies

One of my best friends in the whole world is expecting her first baby.  What a blessing!!  I have been making baby gifts for her, like a crazy best friend does!  I was just finishing up the last of her gifts, 2 boy gifts and 2 girl gifts, so I am ready for both......her husband and her decided to be surprised (which is the best way to go), when she emailed me a picture of the cutest giraffe hat.  It was knitted with a felt giraffe on it.  She asked if I could make something like this for her and my response was OF COURSE!!  I was on a mission........find a giraffe patch to attach to a hat that I was going to crochet (can't knit to save my life).  So, I quickly crocheted 2 hats, 1 in cream for a girl, 1 in blue/green for a boy, then went shopping to find the giraffe and wouldn't you know it the first place I looked I found it and it was CUTE!! Home I went to attach the giraffes to each of the hats.  Now, just waiting for the bundle of joy to arrive!!
